If you have been reading this blog for a while you know that one of my favorite cleaners is Holy Cow. It is a great environmentally friendly cleaner that can be used on just about everything. It is very inexpensive and little goes a long ways.
I used to buy it at Walmart and then about a month or so ago they stopped stocking it. I checked the Holy Cow website, www.holycowproducts.com and discovered that Ace Hardware was also a retailer. Well there is an Ace about four blocks from my house and sure enough, there it was.
I am very happy and Ace Hardware will be getting my cleaning dollars.

Can the big box stores be cheap and green? The answer, yes they can. In my area I have both Target and Walmart super centers. I have shopped for groceries at both and been pleasantly surprised at both.
Among other things Target carries the Method brand which is a whole line of cleaning and personal products that are environmentally friendly. You can check them out at www.methodhome.com. Target’s own premium brand of food, Archer Farms, has quit a few organic options. They also carry organic produce, meat and dairy.
Over at Walmart the cleaning and personal care product are getting a little greener but there is room for improvement. There are a lot of national brand organics in the grocery department. I buy Land O Lakes organic eggs there for $2.63 a dozen when I can’t get them farm direct. The meat department is getting a little better, but I haven’t seen any organic produce yet.
One reason to shop at either Target or Walmart is one stop shopping. It is not only convenience, but it is also green. The less driving we do, the better for our own bottom line and the environment.
Hopefully the more green dollars we all spend at big box retailers the more they will get the message and continue to expand into organics, recycled products, and biodegradable.

I hate it when something I really like is discontinued, a TV show, a type of jeans or an earth friendly cleaner. Several months ago I read about a really good and earth friendly cleaner called Holy Cow and to my surprise I found it at a big box retailer, Walmart. Until today. Holy Cow goes a long way so you don’t need to buy it often and when I went to get some today it was not there. I asked why and the lady said it had been deleted from their order forms. My response, that sucks. I asked why it had been deleted and she said she thinks because the product works to good?!?!
As a consumer I think this really sucks. A product is inexpensive, works well and is earth friendly so a major retailer (Walmart) discontinues it. We need to use or buying power as consumers to let Walmart and other large retailers know that we won’t stand for this.
Holy Cow has a web site www.holycowproducts.com which I plan on checking out tomorrow. If I can’t find another retailer I’ll see if I can buy a case dircet from them.
